THE CHEFS

Lorenzo Cogo

A jump from one Continent to another: Australia, Asia and Europe. At the end he brings with him all the experiences he has accumulated abroad and puts them in his first restaurant, the El Coq in Marano Vicentino, province of Vicenza. In 2016 he moves from Marano Vicentino to Vicenza in the downtown area in Piazza dei Signori, at Caffè Garibaldi. After Lorenzo moves to the new location, the Michelin guide doesn’t remove his previously obtained Michelin star. In spite of his rich résumé, Lorenzo Cogo is still very young: born in 1986 and still a great desire to improve himself. In his past he gained rewarding experiences in the biggest restaurants such as The Fat Black, or in Japan with Seiji Yamamoto and Denmark with René Redzepi. What did Lorenzo learn with his trip around the world? To cook in a new and intuitive way.

Mikael Svensson

Mikael was born and raised in Skåne, Sweden, in the countryside between peasants and open landscapes. Kontrast is a dream he’s had for 15 years ever since he decided to become a chef. His culinary career began at the school in Kristianstad, and then continued in various positions and apprenticeships in Skåne. There he discovered his love for high-quality local products “The final result is never better than the quality of the products used”. His career continued in Oslo, at Le Canard, 11 years ago. Then he worked in Europe in several restaurants with one, two, or three Michelin stars, including the Spanish restaurants Quique Dacosta and Martin Berasategu. Back in Oslo, he participated in the foundation of the Madu restaurant in Grims Grenka and Tjuvholmen Sjømagasin, working as a sous-chef. Now the right time to open his dream restaurant has come.
